Jim McNally has 42 years experience in the Southern Alberta market, producing, directing and photographing local commercials, marketing materials and television programs.
Prior to opening The Commercial Factory in 1999, he worked in all facets of the photography and production departments for CISA Television (now Global Lethbridge), he was the Operations Manager for five years and he was the Station Manager when he left to start his own business.
He has received numerous industry awards from the Television Retail Bureau for his commercials and from Can Pro for his program productions. Some of Jim's awards for local businesses include TVB awards for Bankok~Taste of Asia, the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen and the Lethbridge Hurricanes and he provided footage on Dancing Bodies which received an Alberta Motion Picture Award for best educational program. He was also recognized for producing & directing Ski West, which was awarded the best syndicated sports program in Canada. A commercial collaboration with Lethbridge College received an Aurora Gold Award. He received a second Aurora Gold Award in the Corporate Identity Image category for a web video produced for Coldwell Banker and received a third Aurora Gold Award recognizing his cinematography in a commercial for Lethbridge Volkswagen. A commercial for Audiology First resulted in two more Aurora Gold Awards in the Health and Elderly Services categories.
He has international productions to his credit including the following documentaries: Barbados, Passport to the Soviet Union, South Africa: Out of the Darkness and Children of Chernobyl which was a finalist for the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Gold Ribbon Award. Work for the Canadian Wildlife Federation has taken him to Tadoussac, Quebec and Iqaluit, Nunavut. In the summer of 2012 Jim was the Director of Photography for the locally produced feature film, Common Chord. He received a nomination for the movie at the 2014 AMPIA awards for Best Cinematographer in the drama over 30 minutes category.
He has been married for 36 years to his wife Jill and they have two children, Megan, who's married to Owen and Mark who is engaged to Caitlin. He's also grandfather to Nate, Callen, Caden and Caius.
